Drummer / composer Sebastien Delacombaz is an eclectic musician, currently active on the Amsterdam Jazz scene. Drawing inspiration from a myriad of musical horizons, Sebastien sets himself apart with a unique compositional style, and a personal voice on the drum-kit that allows him to thrive not only as a leader but also as a sideman in a variety of ensembles.
Sebastien got his start playing Jazz in his home country of Switzerland, at the JazzCampus, Basel, and subsequently studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he completed a Bachelor and Masters degree in performance alongside coaching in contemporary composition.
Sebastien has had the opportunity to study with some of the best jazz musicians of today, including Mark Turner, Jeff Ballard, Jorge Rossy, Bill McHenry and composer Guillermo Klein. He has also been mentored by renowned Dutch drummers Martijn Vink, Lucas Van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse and Yoran Vroom during his time in Amsterdam. For the past few years, Sebastien has performed consistently around Europe, and is now leading his own ensemble , the quintet “FI:LDS”.
